50%

of kids miss out on extracurriculars—and it’s not because they’re not interested.

Most activities just aren’t accessible to every family. Village changes that. Our platform connects families, providers, and donors to expand access and increase demand for quality activities like yours.

We’re bringing more families to the table.

Here’s how it works:

STEP 1

List your activity on Village.com

Use our intuitive activity builder to list any type of extracurricular—classes, camps, events, you name it! Once published, our team reviews your activity to determine if it qualifies for our Scholarship Program, in line with Village's Promotion Policy.

STEP 2

Families can apply in just 5 clicks and receive an immediate response

Once your activity is approved, families will see a “Check for scholarships” button right on your activity page. They can request and receive a scholarship within seconds. Our automated, fair decision model makes access fast and simple.

STEP 3

They get a discount
You get paid in full

When a family receives a scholarship, they register at a discount rate while you still receive the full price. Scholarships are anonymous, so you won’t know who received one. No bias. No extra admin. Just more kids that can afford your classes.

Empowering kids by empowering businesses

Early results show promising trends for providers participating in the program:

30%

While we aim to support as many families as possible, not all applications meet the eligibility criteria. On average, 3 out of 10 families who apply receive a scholarship instantly.

3-5%

Revenue increase

Activities that offered scholarship have seen an increased of up to 3–5%  in their fill rate, since more families could now afford them.

5–10%

Increase in fill rate

Activities approved for scholarships tend to see higher enrollment than similar ones that aren’t part of the program.

⚠️ These numbers are based on early averages across participating providers seen in 2024. They are not guaranteed and may vary by activity, location, and demand.

Frequently asked questions

How is the Village Scholarships Program funded?

Thanks to donations received through The Village Project, we can fund the Village Scholarships program:

  • General Funds: The Village Project continuously raises money through donations from individuals, as well as grants from federal, state, and local government programs. These funds support scholarships across all providers on Village.
  • Provider Funds: You, as a provider, can raise money through your own fundraisers or events. The funds you raise are pooled into a dedicated “bucket” within the Village Project — like having your own private 501(c)(3) nonprofit without the paperwork. These funds can only be used by you for your programs.
  • Private Funds: Providers can also receive donations directly from individuals or companies. These donations go into the Village Project but are designated exclusively for your programs and can only be used by you.

If you're interested in collaborating thevillageproject.org. 100% of your donation goes to kids*.

*Every penny of your donation funds kids’ attendance to activities, with no deductions for salaries or operational costs — with the exception of a minimal payment processing fee. This fee is 3-4% for card payments or 0.8% (up to a maximum of $5) for ACH payments. See it for yourself here.

How do you make sure scholarship funds keep coming?

The Village Project team actively pursues all opportunities to secure ongoing donations, ensuring scholarships remain funded.

One of the key strengths of The Village Project is that it operates with 0% overhead—meaning 100% of every dollar donated goes directly to helping kids. This transparency and efficiency attract both private and government donors, which helps maintain steady funding for scholarships.

How much scholarship funding can I expect to receive each month?

When you first start using Village, you’ll receive a small monthly scholarship quota. This quota isn’t money you manage directly; instead, it determines how much support can be automatically granted to families as they register to your activities.

This initial quota gives you a chance to try out the system with real families, while giving us time to ensure you’re a legitimate business.

As you continue to publish more activities and growing your presence and revenue on Village, you become eligible for increased funding. You’re also welcome to raise scholarship funds independently, and Village gives you a way to apply those funds to registrations—even if you don’t have a nonprofit setup.

Will I know how much scholarship funding has been distributed to my customers?

While we don’t share personal details about individual families, we’re happy to provide general reports on how scholarships are being used for your activities. Just reach out at any time and we can share an overview.

Will I know who got a scholarship?

No — Village.com respects the privacy and confidentiality of families who apply for scholarships. To help prevent bias, orders on your end will always show the full price, even if a scholarship was applied.

Families will see the scholarship on their end, but you won’t be able to tell who received one. That said, we’re happy to share general reports so you can understand how scholarships are being used across your activities.

How do you ensure scholarships go to kids who really need them?

When a family applies for a scholarship for the first time, they complete an application form where we collect basic information such as household income, expenses, and family size. This allows the system to assess need responsibly, without requiring excessive paperwork that could discourage families from completing their registration.

I already have a scholarship program running. How can that integrate with Village’s scholarship program?

Your existing scholarship efforts can seamlessly integrate and expand through Village: When you raise funds through your own scholarship efforts—like fundraisers or events—those donations can be directed into your own dedicated "Provider Fund" within The Village Project. Think of it as your private 501(c)(3) fund, but without the hassle and paperwork. The funds you raise go exclusively to support scholarships for your programs on Village.com.
